Physician Compare Website, Blueprint for Lowering Drug Pricing


What Will Patients See on Physician Compare and What Practices Need to Check Immediately

2018 will be the first year that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is adding star ratings to the Physician Compare website. In the past, patients could go on the website to find a physician in their area dealing with their specific disease state or issue. They would see some general information about gender, education, affiliations and office locations, along with limited information about participation in CMS Quality Programs.

AmerisourceBergen comments on Trump Administration Blueprint for Lowering Drug Pricing

IPN and Besse Medical leadership submitted comments on Monday on the behalf of AmerisourceBergen on over 150 concepts laid out by the HHS Secretary Azar to reduce Rx drug prices and improve affordability for patients. Our comments focused on protecting the future of community physician practices:

  • Support for eliminating prohibition on pharmacists alerting consumers to lower cost Rx options (gag clauses)
  • Support for greater access and availability to biosimilars and generic products
  • Oppose moving Medicare Part B drugs to Part D and reinstitution of Medicare Competitive Acquisition Program (CAP)
  • Support patient copayment assistance programs
  • Support for value-based purchasing arrangements
